Job Description

As an Events Kitchen Steward, your responsibilities will go beyond just ensuring hygiene standards. Some of your key duties might include:

  • Cleaning and Sanitising: Ensure that all kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils are cleaned and sanitised to meet health and safety standards. This includes working with dishwashers, sinks, and other cleaning equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with the storage of kitchen supplies, ensuring that all items are correctly stored, labelled, and rotated to prevent spoilage or waste.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Report any malfunctioning or damaged kitchen equipment to the relevant person for repair, ensuring minimal downtime in the kitchen operations.
  • Support During Events: Provide general kitchen support during events by ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly, such as replenishing supplies and assisting chefs or other kitchen staff when needed.
  • Waste Management: Oversee the proper disposal of kitchen waste, including food waste, and ensure that all trash is collected and disposed of correctly to maintain cleanliness and prevent health hazards.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all workplace safety procedures, from the handling of cleaning products to the safe use of kitchen equipment. Stay up-to-date with health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting with Stocking and Setup: Help set up the kitchen or prep areas before events and assist with restocking throughout the event to ensure smooth kitchen operation.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience working in a kitchen environment, preferably within an events or hospitality setting
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience 
  • Full availability to work across a variety of hours including weekends and on Public Holidays 
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
  • Efficient organisational skills to manage inventory and assist with stock rotation
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
